(2) Search of Patents and Trademarks
It is very important to conduct a search of prior art in patent and prior registration in trademark before an application is filed. We have the facilities of a complete database and documents to do a search on prior arts and a search on prior registrations, in Korea , at the Korean Patent Office. This will also ensure clearance searches; other information requests are carried out, reported promptly and cost-effectively. Searches are necessary to ensure that a new trademark or patent does not infringe the earlier rights of others and no prior trademarks or patents bars registration. A search may detect conflicting trademarks or patents before costs are incurred and this may save a client the considerable expense of further withdrawal and modification of such material or any possible infringement actions.
(3) Licensing for Technology Transfer
Designers today are responsible for the appearance and function of many goods, such as building components, appliances, furniture and etc. An effective design plays a key role in product marketing. Hence, a characteristic, sleek or unique design can provide a competitive advantage to a manufacturer. Further, a registered design licence can provide a more valuable income stream. As a result of this, clients turn to us for the negotiation and drafting of clear, effective and workable licence agreements, advice on design licencing issues and disputes. We will make business arrangements for technology transfers both between Korean clients and foreign clients and vice versa in various fields of technology as well as trademark licences. We will also liquidate all the legal problems including recordation with the Korean Patent Office.
